Gerard does not withdraw from the national team
“I’m available as long as coach Roy Hodgson needs me”
Captain Steven Gerrard denied on Monday in Krakow the rumors that would withdraw from the England national team, a day after their elimination from the European Championship quarter-finals in Ukraine and Poland.
“I talked to coach Roy Hodgson and I said I’m available as long as he needs me. I was glad to be captain of England, I like to have responsibilities. I took advantage of every moment and I gave all I had better, “said Gerrard, the 32-year-old Liverpool captain.
England finished first in Group D, but was eliminated on Sunday from Euro 2012 after being defeated by Italy, with the score 4-2 on penalty kicks.
English will begin their World Cup 2014 qualifiers on September 7, in a match against Moldova.
